Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How long does it take to complete my course? A. Some students finish in under 6 weeks, others take several months, depending on the time they have to give to the course.
Q. How do I start once I get my certificate? A. Your cert means immediate new income, whether you start you own home/ BI business, join a talent agency or recruiting/ search firm, or get promoted to HR in your present company. Due to PSU's JV with ETI, a private Fortune 500 developer and venture capital company, you have immediate access to all the resources of a big company, even if you start your own home search firm or recruiting consulting business. ETI uses PSU grads exclusively for their start-up searches. Q. How long does it take for my course to arrive, and what is the process? A. Your course comes as a download or email attachment (depending on your ISP), within two business days of your order. There is an exam included with your course(s), which you email back to receive your cert. There is no residency requirement (you do not have to attend in person), and the course is compatible with all computers.
Q. If I get the optional $49 business disc, do I need any other software? A. No, in fact, everything you need is in the course, including all links and resources, checklists, etc. The disc is just a convenient way to access your models and resources, and is specifically for those starting their own home agency. The disc is included free with the Recruiter/ BI level course.
Q. Does my course help with business as well as the recruiting info itself? A. All PSU courses are designed for those who would like to start their own businesses and professional practices, so yes, there is a significant amount of material in every course relating to the business and financial success aspects of your recruiting practice. Our grads are so successful, so fast, due to the demand, that most are turning down clients due to demand once the word is out about their service, especially in a sluggish economy with much employment change and turmoil.
Q. Can I do this even if I don't have a lot of experience? How much do I have to know about computers? Do I need a College Degree? A. All you need is a High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, and any home or library computer, if you also want to take advantage of the web aspects of recruiting such as Ladders and Monster. The course includes everything you need to understand the search process, recruiting terminology, shortcuts and tricks, and working with your customers. No specific computer experience is required to take the courses either, and if you can read an email, you can take the course. There is no deadline for completion, and you can work at your own pace.
Q. What is the advantage of taking the more advanced courses? A. It is an indication of the seriousness of your commitment to your business and your customers, and can also mean significant more income and a higher starting salary or management promotion. When you realize that you can begin making over $400 a day right away, why would you not want every piece of information to become the best you can be, as soon as possible? Over 85% of our grads eventually take all three courses. If you order the most advanced course, it includes the other two for no additional cost, as PSU is here for your professional AND financial success! Think about it, the BI course is $200 by itself, but is only $49 if taken with your recruiter license course! If you scrimp here, you are scrimping on YOURSELF! Think about the savings compared to other courses that can take over 2 years, and cost $50,000 or more! As far as getting started, however, the $99 Licensed Recruiter course is all you need to begin right away, and you can always upgrade later for just the difference, never the whole price.
Q. How do my transcripts work? A. Unlike other Colleges, PSU transcripts are always unlimited, and always free. Others charge from $100 to $200 EACH for transcripts! Once your certificate is received, your transcripts become active once you return your final exam.
Q. Your prices are awesome for an accredited program, are there other graduation or matriculation fees? A. NO, NEVER. What you see is what you get, one price, no hidden charges.
Q. I noticed a shipping fee, but this is an online/ email course. What is the shipping for? A. Your ship link remains active until course completion, at which time your certificate is sent to your Paypal address of record (the address you put down when you order). If you used a spouse's email or Paypal account, be sure to let us know your name for your certificate.
Q. Do I have to understand recruiting before I start? A. No experience is needed, and recruiting is such fun, because you can make your hobby and passion your income! If you're into Sports, become a talent agent or Sports recruiter. If you love Science, recruit in Research, Medicine or Engineering! You can feel good about what you are doing, will be helping others, and still be your own boss. There is NO field today that is so open, so needed, and offering potential income of six figures right out of High School. Our grads also range from 18 to 80, and many are disabled Vets, as this is not a physically demanding occupation. There also are MANY niches, most of which don't require any sales work, such as outplacement, agent reps, HR, temp agencies, etc. Your course covers them all, and your license is good for ANY speciality you love.
Q. Do I have to work certain hours, or go to my customer's office? A. Most independent recruiters work exclusively at home, are their own boss, and work the hours they want. You can choose how much business you take, and ramp up quickly or slowly. In addition to specializing in a field you love, remember that you are choosing a FLEXIBLE field that is NOT subject to the swings, layoffs and uncertainties of any other job. We have stay at home moms, disabled vets, recent grads, retirees, and many others doing extremely well. You also can live where you want in this computer age, as our grads are completely prepared for both the local and national online job sites, and many start their own web-based search firm. Remember, when people tell you about a field such as Medicine, Sports, Hospitality, Accounting, Law, Engineering, Law Enforcement, or others that are "not affected" by disasters or bad economies, the secret is: NEITHER are the recruiters that specialize in these fields! Why go through 8 or more years of graduate study to become a $120,000 Attorney, when you can make $250,000 placing them!
THINK ABOUT THIS: Many people who retire from, start and then dislike, or get tired of other occupations, from Accounting to Law, Medicine, Nursing, and many others, take their knowledge of that work and have fun doing what they love: recruiting in that field as their own boss! We have one grad who worked construction, got injured, and is now a construction recruiter! Think of your own background... what you love can be what you do, for major immediate income, right from home.
